Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser - Do You Need One?
This practical 90-minute webinar is designed to help businesses understand when a DGSA is required, when exemptions may apply and, importantly, where responsibility sits within the transport chain.
A common misconception is that using a freight forwarder or carrier means they take responsibility for dangerous goods compliance. This is not necessarily the case. Businesses may retain specific legal responsibilities depending on the activities they undertake.
Our presenter will explain the requirements in straightforward, practical language, using real-world examples to help businesses recognise where the regulations may apply to them. No previous dangerous goods knowledge is required.
What Will the Webinar Cover?
What is classed as dangerous goods and which types of businesses can be affected
When a DGSA is legally required and when an exemption may apply
Common misunderstandings surrounding DGSA exemptions
The responsibilities of consignors, packers, loaders and other parties within the transport chain
Why using a carrier or freight forwarder does not automatically remove your responsibilities
Common compliance failures and reasons dangerous goods shipments are rejected
Practical steps businesses can take to identify potential gaps in their own compliance
Q&As
Business owners and directors; logistics, transport, warehouse and operations managers; manufacturers and distributors; import/export and shipping teams; Health & Safety professionals; supply chain and procurement teams; and any organisation shipping batteries, chemicals, aerosols, equipment or other potentially regulated products.
Businesses that do not know whether dangerous goods regulations apply to them are particularly encouraged to attend.
Attendees should leave with a clearer understanding of whether their activities may fall within dangerous goods regulations, whether their organisation may require a DGSA, whether an exemption may legitimately apply, where their responsibilities sit when using third-party carriers or freight forwarders, and what practical steps to take if they identify a potential compliance gap.
The objective is not to turn attendees into dangerous goods specialists in 90 minutes. It is to give businesses enough knowledge to recognise their responsibilities, ask the right questions and know when specialist advice or training may be required.
Date: Thursday 15 October 10.00am - 11.30am
Virtual: Zoom Platform
Cost to attend: Free for Members and Non-Members £25.00 + VAT
